Baby's Skin- Make it best body wrap

Baby's skin is very delicate and sensitive than an adult, it is very thin and it produces less melanin and so it needs a special attention. My baby's skin color was very dark when she was born, so I took a special care of her skin. My mum always said "two things are very important for a baby her skin and her health". She said "Don't worry about the color just worry about the texture of the skin which matters more in the long run". While fair complexion is still considered an asset in India but sometimes it is seen that a fairer skin looks dull and dusky skin shines, I think that's because the skin texture matters. My Mom is fairly white and I always wanted to steal her complexion for my daughter, but no worries I am proud to have Kimaya, just as she is. I decided to work in a proper way to give her a charming beauty which I now believe is more important. Thanks again to my Mom for her lessons on naturopathy, which is harmless. Sharing ideas makes me delighted always.

The early days taking care of your newborn baby are a time of excitement. Love and pamper your new tiny seed nurture in a best way to grow her into a shiny tree.

First few days avoid using soap, oil or raw milk as it might irritate your baby's thin skin. Bathing baby with plain luke warm water is best for first few days. Once your baby is free from

Massage - Come close to your baby

Begin caring your little one with a soothing massage. It is a wonderful way to make your baby feel safe and secure by showing that he or she is loved and cared. It Smoothes the transition from womb to the world and develops baby's first language: touch.
Choosing the right oil and massaging in right manner is very important for your baby. So, I recommend every mother to take a small workshop on "How To's" before you begin and then enjoy some quiet time and get to know your baby’s tiny developing body, it surely would help your child with a comfortable sleep patterns. Win win :)

Massage your baby with Olive oil, Pure olive oil never leaves you greasy. But, Make sure it's 'extra virgin' 100% pure olive oil. The ones that aren't labeled as extra virgin don't have the high omega-3 content that pure olive oil has. So be careful.
In winters, Almond oil is better because it is very well absorbed into the body and leaves the baby warm. I suggest everybody to test the oil or any mixture on a small area on the baby's feet before applying on the whole body.
Mustard Oil(Winter) and Coconut oil(Summer) are considered to be the best if used on diaper rashes or heat rash or chafing.

Many moms believe that massaging a baby with raw milk will ensure a fair complexion. This is a misconception -- raw milk can carry a host of bacteria and cause infections and skin rashes. So, one must cautiously start its use that too after 45 days. Some skin are allergic to oil or turmeric or raw milk. If you have ensured that then you can start bathing him once a week and gradually increase it by using it in the alternate days. You can try some of the home made tips to make your baby look bright. Instead of soap use some home made powder which is made up of red masoor dal/Green urad dal or both. Try bathing your baby in tender coconut water twice a week. After the coconut bath just wipe dry. After an hour give a normal bath. I have tried this and it works really well.

If you decide to use talcum powder use a powder puff or a piece of cloth to apply powder taking care to avoid his nasal area, mouth, eyes and genitals. Never dab powder directly from the container onto your baby because the powder would cake up on body and cause a lot of irritation. One must avoid using creams and lotions on the irritated skin.

Hair care for babies is equally important. From shampooing to combing hair your babies hair need special hair care. Some infants are born with thick hair and some are born with thin hair. Sometimes, the fuzzy infant hair gradually falls out and new hair grows in. The new hair is generally much fuller than the newborn hair and tends to grow in a set pattern.
Do not wash your baby hair daily. You can give them gentle hair washes in few days interval. Best idea is to gently comb through your baby's hair to remove any tangles before shampooing. Unfortunately, Babies hate having their hair washed but we must establish good habits early so that they practice proper hair care in the future.
Head massage is also very important for your baby. Almond oil nourishes hair and smoothes hair cuticles. In summers mixture of coconut and olive oil is best for hair. Best time for the head massage is at night because it promotes the sound sleep and also, in the daytime it attracts dust. Oil keeps your baby safe from problems of flaky scalp or cradle cap.
